Applying to college? Are you confused about what pieces to put into your portfolio? Do you know what the department you are applying to wants to see in your portfolio? These are all very confusing questions.

Enter Matt's pre-college portfolio review. For many years Matt taught a pre-college portfolio class at the School Of Visual Arts. He knows what each department looks for in a student's portfolio.

How does this portfolio review work? The first step is to gather up your work. You can send your work in the form of a Google drive link. You can also send a link to your Google images. Matt does not recommend sending work via email since the file sizes will be too small.

After Matt receives your work, he will film a a video critique. He will drill down on some individual pieces as well as talk about the bigger picture of your work. Matt will email a video and image package for you to review. Once you have had time to look everything over, a Zoom call is then scheduled. Calls last about an hour.

Along with your work, send a paragraph or two about what you are trying to accomplish. Where do you want to go to school, what department? What is your bigger focus, what is your dream job after you graduate from your chosen college. Don't get overwhelmed, this does not need to be perfect. An informal paragraph or two is best, have fun with it.

The last student I helped received a full scholarship to one college and a partial scholarship offer from their first school of choice.

Matt has been teaching at the School Of Visual Arts. He knows what colleges are looking for, period.
